I’m genuinely stunned that LLL has been captured. An organization that understands womenhood in such a deep, deep way should be 100% inoculated against the gender ideology. LL, I’m sorry for you. The betrayal must be infuriating and excruciating.
Has LLL been 'captured' though? I wouldn't take the misinformation in this post as evidence of that. Why not check out your local LLL to see the support that is on offer?
Feel free to use another word for the set of beliefs that claims people have a subjective, internal gender identity that is entirely separate from our sexed bodies. But there is a set of such beliefs and it holds that males who have a gender identity that differs from their sexed bodies are to be considered women. I fall into the “live your best life, wear a dress if you want to, but in certain circumstances sex matters and breastfeeding is one of those circumstances” camp. We are all human beings, we are a sexually biomorphic species and our two sexes are immutable.
This volunteer has absolutely been betrayed by an organization that she believed stood for the primacy of the mother/child dyad. I did not use the plural, and I object to your characterization. As to the “listening”, I am reminded of Mark Twain’s missionary who went among the cannibals - “They listened with he greatest of interest to everything he said. And then they ate him.” Yes, LLL ‘listened’. (And if you don’t understand literary analogy and reference, please refrain from responding.)
Lydia, I don't think many LLL Leaders are in the field as researchers, are they?
I guess Lucy (and I've no idea who she is) may be writing anonymously out of fear? I remember in 2015, someone in the then LLLI management company describing to me the Leaders they came into contact with as 'sharks'.
Since you are a Leader, please will you answer my question above about binders? Also, why does LLLI appear to be recommending a drug (spironolactone) by linking to a single case study? Thanks in advance.
You say, 'LLLI does not recommend drugs' but the wording here is quite clear that such a drug might be necessary?
'Transfeminine nursing parents may also need to take the hormone spironolactone to suppress their testosterone. Read a case report of induced lactation in a transgender woman [link]'
Back in the days when I was editing at LLL, it was policy to avoid the use of the word 'need' for good reason.
At least referring the breastbinding question to a health practitioner avoids direct promotion of self-harm but I can't begin to imagine how in a real life helping situation a Leader would manage to skirt around the issues relating to the use of binders. How is it the article refers to testosterone and spironolactone but not the practice of binding?
I have repeatedly submitted the following question to LLL, both in the UK and in the USA, but received no response or even acknowledgement:
Is breastbinding during lactation contraindicated? What do LLL Leaders say to someone who wants to bind their breasts yet still breastfeed?
Why the silence?

So very well said! "How can there be a healthy way to practice an unhealthy activity?" Precisely right!
No Leaders here happy to answer my question?
You are anonymous too? Why can't people use their real names these days? How is Lucy's research 'lousy'?
