The primal need to protect and be soley responsible for a baby is absent . The beauty of that intimate relationship and potential for good relationships in the future diluted .

thank you for pointing out breastfeeding is species specific and normal in the way that donor milk and formula are not. having 3 infants who absolutely refused bottles of expressed milk and would ONLY drink from the breast i am fortunate to have had time and resources to serve on demand. some infants will take a bottle mine would not. i can't even imagine what would have happened had a man tried. i don't need a research paper to tell me about the mother/infant dyad
My New Year's wish is that magical thinking is put back in the fiction section, where it belongs. The imagination of fantasy can be a wonderful journey, but we live in real bodies that have firm boundaries. And no baby should be used as a prop for a performance art life.
