Erasing women. Why not? We have been providing reproductive services at no charge since the beginning of time. We have been providing unpaid infant care, unpaid child-care, unpaid family care, unpaid geriatric care. We have been enslaved, abused, devalued, because of our reproductive organs. Now we are kicked out of the whole restorative justice movement.
Lucy, I read something that really shook me to the core the other day. Did you know that when hunters want to kill the whole bevy of deer, all they have to do is to identify the dominant female? They kill her first, and the whole group gets disoriented. Killing them all is easy then. They don't fight. I see this is what is happening today. Women were starting to understand the mechanics of social injustice, getting smarter, stronger...Getting organized. So, we have been shot down, cancelled, erased.
THIS 100%. I have been mostly quiet on this issue until now. But after being physically abused by an ex-husband while pregnant, breastfeeding and pumping at work, a pregnancy that destroyed my body and then being forced to raise sons alone, I’ve had enough. Males don’t experience any of that. And now the erasure, as you say.
And you are right. Men don’t experience it the same way.
I married a nice man...who used his parental paid leave to play computer games while I breastfed, did laundry, did dishes, organized meals for us (including him). It was that or nagging him to help, which was exhausting too.
I was relieved when he went back to the office, as there would be one less person for me to take care of.
I live in a country where there is no mandated maternal paid leave. Politicians are now discussing “parents” leave. Sad “ha”!

It gets worse: my elderly mother who raised me without the help of a male was the victim of femicide in November 2018, obviously targeted for her physical weakness because she was a WOMAN, not a male. So, I'm beyond tired of the erasure of the horrific trauma that women go through globally, whether it's due to pregancy, a partner or femicide.
